Creatures of habit

May 22, 2022

Habit is to humans as freedom is to bikes.

Fundamental.

Habit is brushing our teeth, pooping, and firing up the french press without even knowing it happened. It’s sitting in the same chair at the same spot of the same table every day. Habit is even an elk’s well travelled game trail zagging through the woods.

It’s the path of least resistance and it offers a sense of mindless convenience that frees us up by way of structure, direction, and ease to our day.

As with everything, though, there exists a sweet spot.

And at some point, the grooves of routine etch so deep we become trapped inside the trench. Blocking us from seeing what’s possible.

W o r k, phone, exercise, phone, Netflix, phone, bed, repeat.

Which leaves us with a choice: continue with the ordinary or break the rut?

The answer, to us, is obvious.

Zoom out, see our patterns, and occasionally, scramble the fuck out of ‘em. Then, consciously choose our next step.

We hope you’ll join us in reorienting with the creatures that we are.

It’s time to reconnect with what matters.

And it’s time to unplug.

The next field trip is coming up. It’s capped at thirty and is almost full. RSVP here.

Also, we’re having our bi-weekly zoom call again this Wednesday, 8-9pm MST. It starts with a meditation and then we’ll be speaking on what is most alive. If you wanna stay connected, click here to join the zoom.
