Into The Darkness

Sep 11, 2023

We are not a bike tour business and these trips are not vacations. Honestly, we’re not certain what we are, at least not yet, but we know what we’re not. One of the core principles we believe in is the concept of better. Not more, not perfect, those are traps. But better? We can get better and so can you.

For Unplugged, 2023 was better than 2022 because we launched trips. Our aim next year is to run better trips than last year. Over the past weeks, Lucas and I have spent countless hours tossing ideas about these trips and we’re excited to share some updates.

Next year, we’re changing things up. We’re kicking off 2024 with two new trips and they’re going to be, well, different. For starters, we’ll be crossing the country old school- as in, on our own two feet. Yes, foot mission means no bikes. When we’re on foot, we’ll be able to cover different terrain and get primal on rock features. We’re also hoping these foot missions will help keep us warmer… Speaking of which, these first two trips, the MLK Misogi and Trip Darkness are in the dead of winter. You will see that the MLK Misogi is designed only for those of us who want to push ourselves to our absolute edge. If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, but you still find yourself interested, Trip Darkness is for you.

A second feature we’re fired up about in 2024 is bringing greater intentionality to the time we spend together. While lots of unstructured grooving is still our bread and butter, next year we’re rolling out different interactive workshops on each trip. We’re still figuring this part out but proposed topics range from mindfulness to body movement, bike mechanics, and more. With these workshops, we’re walking the talk of these actually being field trips for adults. If you have an idea for a workshop you’d like to participate in, or better yet, lead, please reach out to us. We’d LOVE to hear from you.
