Unplugged (Working) Manifesto

Nov 9, 2023

Together with our friend Mari (of the legendary Sullivan clan) we’re working on a website. We want to provide some framework that gets at the ethos of what we endeavor to create as this project evolves. A special thanks goes out to those of you who helped bring some of these concepts to life.

Unplugged: Field Trips for Adults.

  • right on time: It’s a feeling, not a number.

  • ceremony matters: Caring makes it real.

  • tools not jewels: Use technology like the multi-tool that it is.

  • process over outcome: We’re on a journey and we choose how we respond.

  • in seeking balance, go radical: acceptance, participation, expression, attention.

  • shield’s down: Allows us to connect.

  • you are enough: Do what you can, from where you are, with what you have. (Thanks, Teddy)

  • digest uncertainty: It regulates our nervous systems.

  • let the beat build: Delay gratification.

  • embrace contrast: Deep challenge, deep rest.

  • nature is the sauce: Look, listen, notice, and use common sense.

  • servant leadership: You get what you want by helping others get what they want.

  • play for team human: Everyone is a teacher. Everyone is a student.

  • scuttle: Watch your wake.

And now a favor. This list is incomplete. If something feels alive for you based on your experience on a trip, please reach out, we’d love to hear from you.
